According to legislation, all claims of harassment, large or small, must be investigated by Producers. Thankfully, some claims can be handled in-house in a fairly short period of time.  However, if a claim is more complex, producers might not necessarily have the time or knowledge to perform these investigations.  

 

Often Producers will turn to their legal team to proceed.  Unfortunately, this can be very expensive for production which may not have been covered in initial budgetary planning.  With traditional law firms, there may be very little knowledge about the film and television sector.  And traditional investigators may not understand the nuances of this industry which include timeliness, costliness, knowledge of working with multiple unions and guilds in one environment, to name but a few.
